Shannon Prohaszka, Senior Program Officer, has 20 years of nonprofit expertise, spanning from South Florida to New York, primarily focusing on early childhood education, community development and intellectual and developmental disabilities. During her career, Shannon has developed programming, managed numerous Board of Directors, fundraised and provided executive leadership for many multi-million dollar nonprofits. Her earliest professional years were spent in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was at one of those organizations in 2006 that she developed a long-standing relationship and friendship with Don Taft, a local South Florida philanthropist. In 2013 Shannon and her family moved back to the Northeast. Shannon joined The Taft Foundation in 2014. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children and is passionate about food, friends, fun and her family.
Deena Schaffer, Program Officer, has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector. Working for organizations located in Massachusetts, Colorado, and New York, Deena has focused on improving access to college and career opportunities as well as youth development. Deena has extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising, project and event management, Board liaising, research, and database administration. Deena joined The Taft Foundation in 2017. She earned her MPA in Nonprofit Management and Finance from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, as well as her BA in Sociology and Spanish from Brandeis University.
